A range of qualifications are offered.
The AMSPAR / City & Guilds Certificate / Diploma in Primary Care & Health Management (DPCHM) are the only qualifications designed specifically for managers in general practice and the increasing demands of the primary care sector that is included in the Qualifications and Credit Framework (Level 5).
The programme is open to existing managers and potential managers in a health or social care environment. Candidates should be educated to Level 3 standard and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme. To qualify for entry, all candidates should be recommended by an appropriate employer and accepted by a recognised centre following interview.
Candidates who are unable to fulfill the entry requirements, but who have suitable management experience in any field, may be accepted onto the course providing they can find an informal attachment to a local general practice or appropriate setting.
501 L5 - Managing medical ethics and legal requirements in a primary care and health environment (6 credits)
502 L5 - Financial management and budgeting in a primary care and health environment (7 credits)
503 L5 - Managing information and communication in a primary care and health environment (5 credits)
504 L5 - Leading teams (4 credits)
505 L5 - Developing or improving services in a primary care or health environment (8 credits)
506 L5 - Developing the manager as a critical thinker (4 credits)
507 L5 - Becoming an effective leader (5 credits)
508 L5 - Managing for efficiency and effectiveness (4 credits)
509 L5 - Managing recruitment (5 credits)
The learner must gain 22 credits overall from Units: 501, 502, 503, 504
The learner must achieve a minimum of 38 credits overall from Units: 501-505 (30 credits) + a minimum of 8 credits from 506-509.
